ORGANIC GARDEN OF WONDERS
The Garden of Wonders was the first activity begun by the Cooperative in 1994. It came from the idea to cultivate in the old garden from the Convertiti convent, which is today’s Women’s Prison of the Giudecca.
With the help of the Cooperative’s operators, the prisoners work six thousand square meters of terrain using organic agricultural methods, respecting the environment and natural rhythms. The Organic Garden produces around forty types of fruit, vegetables, flowers, and wild herbs. They are all products that are sold weekly at the stand on Fondamenta del Carcere, where the same women who grow them sell them.
