RECYCLED PVC LAB
The recycled PVC lab has been active since 2009 and replaced the leather-work lab that had started in 1999. Located inside the Men’s Prison of Santa Maria Maggiore, the lab works with prisoners who start a course of professional training that can ultimately lead to employment.
In 2013 as a development of this activity and in order to continue the prisoners’ work placement, a recycled PVC lab was opened outside of the prison.
From this lab come unique and original bags and accessories which have been given the name “Malefatte”. It ironically alludes to the prisoners and the materials utilized in production: the PVC used is, in fact, discarded material taken from advertising banners that are cast-off and recycled in order to create eco-sustainable products.
